“આ મારા મમ્મી જેવા છે. જેમની એક ગંભીર પ્રકારની બીમારી માટે હોમેઓપથીક સારવાર કરાવવા તૈયાર થયા છે.” દર્દીની ઓળખાણ સાથેની પ્રસ્તાવના અપાતા અમારા પરિચિત દર્દીએ કરેલા વિધાનની ગંભીરતા એમના કેસની શરૂઆતમાં જ મને સમજાઈ ગઈ.

“મને હૃદયની બીમારી છે, અને બાયપાસની સલાહ આપી છે, પણ મને  ડાયાબીટીસ પણ છે અન-કન્ટ્રોલડ!,  એટલે હમણાં તાત્કાલિક ઓપરેશન થાય તેમ નથી એટલે વચ્ચેના સમયમાં ચાન્સ લેવા હોમેઓપથી અજમાવી જોવી છે. થોડી રાહત મળે તોયે ઘણું...”

મને છેલ્લા બે-ત્રણ વર્ષથી ડાયાબીટીસ છે. મને ત્યારે નબળાઈ અને સાથે અમુંજણ રહેતી, ખુબજ પરસેવો થતો ને ક્યારેક થોડા ચક્કર જેવું લાગતું હતું એટલે દાક્તરને બતાવ્યું, એમણેવિવિધ પ્રકારના ટેસ્ટ કરાવ્યા, ત્યારે એમાં બાકી બધું તો નોર્મલ આવ્યું, પણ ડાયાબીટીસ સાડી ચારસો આવ્યો. એમણે મને થોડા દિવસ દાખલ કરીને એ નોર્મલ કરી આપ્યો, હવે અત્યારે એ જમ્યા પછી બ્સ્સોની આજુબાજુ આવે છે. ડાયાબીટીસ ત્યાના છ એક મહિના બાદ મને છાતીમાં ભાર લાગવા માંડ્યો, હું થોડું લાંબુ ચાલુ અથવા દાદર ચઢવાનું થાય ત્યારે મને આ ભાર વધારે લાગતો, છેલ્લા બે-ત્રણ વર્ષથી મને પીઠમાં દુખાવાની તકલીફ પણ રહે છે. આ સાથે મને કબજીયાતની જૂની તકલીફ છે પણ એ તો હું અઠવાડિયે એકાદવાર દિવેલ લઇ લઉં એટલે પેટ સાફ થઈ જાય, છેલ્લા આઠ મહિનાથી મને ડાબા ખાભામાં દુખાવો રહે છે. એની સારવારથી મને સારું છે. હમણાં થોડા દિવસથી મને ખાંસીની તકલીફ સતાવે છે, થોડો શ્રમ પડે એટલે ખાંસી શરૂ થઈ જાય છે.

મારો દીકરો અને વહુ લંદન રહે છે. એ મને કાયમ કહ્યા કરે છે અહીં આવી જાવ તમારી સારવાર અહીં કરાવીશું, અહીં પોલ્યુશન પણ ઓછું છે એટલે ઝડપથી સજા થઈ જશો, પણ મારું મન માનતું નથી, અહીં અમારો બંગલો છે મોટી જગ્યા છે એ છોડીને જાઉં તો બધું વેરાન થઈ જાય... હું અને મારા પતિ, બંને જણ નવરા જ છીએ એટલે અત્યારે તો કાળજીથી બધું સાચવીયે છીએ...આગળનું ભગવાન જાણે...”

આટલું બોલ્યા બાદ થોડા સમય માટે એ ચુપ થઈ ગયા. આંખોમાં આંસુ તગતગી આવ્યાં. તેમના સ્વાસ્થ્ય અંગેના કેટલાક પ્રશ્નો પૂછ્યા પણ કોઈ જવાબ ન આપતા એ જાણે વિચારોમાં ખોવાઈ ગયા, એમની સાથે આવેલા બહેને વધુ માહિતી આપતાં જણાવ્યું “એમનો એકનોએક દીકરો છેલ્લા પાંચેક વર્ષથી લંદન ગયો છે, ત્યાં ખુબ સારી રીતે સેટ થઈ ગયો છે. મમ્મીને પણ ત્યાં ખુબ ગમે છે, પણ પપ્પાને નથી જવું. એમને ત્યાં ખુબ એકલવાયું લાગે છે. અહીં તો સોસાયટીના જુવાનીયાઓને બીજા બાળકોને ભેગા કરીને આખો દિવસ ટોળટપ્પા હાંક્યા કરે, નાના બાળકો સાથે સવારથી ક્રિકેટ રમે બપોરે વડીલોને ભેગા કરીને કેરમ રમે અને સાંજથી મોડી રાત સુધી જુવાનીયાઓ સાથે પત્તાંરમ્યા કરે... આખો દિવસ લોકોથી ઘર ભરેલું જ રહે છે...”

“એમને ક્યાં હાથ લંબાવાના છે?” વચ્ચેથી આગળ લંબાવતા દર્દીએ વાત શરૂ કરી, “બસ જીભ જ હલાવવાની ને, ‘ફલાણાભાઈ આવ્યાં છે...ચા લાવો, ઢીકણો આવ્યો છે... કોફી લાવ, કંઇક ઠંડું બનાવો..., બધા પીશું, બસ ઓર્ડરો ચાલુજ હોય, ને એમને બીજા લોકોનું કરેલું કામ ગમતું નથી એટલે બધુંજ ઘરકામ હું જાતેજ કરું છું, એ ઉપરાંત એમના આવા હુકમો... હું એય ચલાવી લઉં છું, પણ ઘડીની નવરાશ મળે અને બીજા કોઈ ઘરમાં હાજર ન હોય તો એ તો સુઈ જાય... મને બાઈ માણસને દિવસે સુવાનું થોડું ફાવે? મને રાત પસે થોડી નવરસ મળે  ત્યારે એ એમની મંડળીમાં હોય, હું રોજ રાહ જોઉં કે ક્યારેક તો તેઓ મારી સાથે એકાંતમાં વાત કરશે... એમણે ક્યારેય મને પૂછ્યું નથી કે તું કેમ છે? ઘરનું બધું કામ જાતે કરું છું તો હું પહોંચીવળું  છું કે નહીં? કંઈ પડી નથી... બસ મારે તો આમ ઢસરડાં કરીને જ જીવવાનું છે, દિવસ રાત મને મારી એકલતા કોરી ખાય છે...દિવસ તો કામમાં પસાર થઇ જાય છે પણ રાત થાય સને મને ધ્રાસકો પડે કેમ કરીને રાહ જશે? ખુબ જ વિચારો આવે, કેમેય કરીને ઠીક ન લાગે એટલે રાતે ઉભી થઈને કામે લાગું, કોઈ કામ ન મળે તો ચાદર-ગલેફ ધોવા બેસી જાઉં..., સાફ વાસણો ફરીથી માંજવા માંડું, જેમ તેમ કરીને રાત કાઢું...ખુબજ થાકી જાઉં ત્યારે માંડ બે-એક કલાક ઊંઘ આવે, આમ છેલ્લા ચાર વર્ષ તો કાઢ્યાં, હવે કેટલાં કાઢવાનાં...”

શારીરિક અને માનસિક પીડાથી થાકી ગયેલા આ બહેનની બીજી તકલીફો અને ખોરાકની પસંદગી વિશેની નોંધ કર્યા બાદ તેમની કબજીયાત, સાંધાના દુખાવા, હ્રદયની તકલીફ અને માનસિક વેદનાને ધ્યાનમાં રાખીને હોમેઓપેથીક દવાની પસંદગી કરવામાં આવી.

લગભગ એક મહિનાની સારવાર બાદ એમની ઊંઘ નિયમિત થઈ, ત્યારબાદ એમને આંતરડાની અને વધુ પડતા ઝાડાનીતકલીફ શરૂ થઇ, જેની સારવાર દરમ્યાન એમને માથાના દુઃખાવાની ફરિયાદ અનુભવાઈ. આ ચિન્હોનો એમણે પોતાની પહેલી અને ત્યારબાદની પાંચેક મુલાકાતમાં ઉલ્લેખ પણ નહોતો કર્યો. એટલે આ ચિહ્નો વિષે પૂછતાં એમણે કહ્યું કે મને આવી તકલીફો મારી પચ્ચીસ થી પાંત્રીસ વર્ષની ઉંમર દરમ્યાન હતી અને ત્યારે સારવાર બાદ ઠીક હતું, પછી આટલા વર્ષોમાં મને આવી તકલીફ ક્યારેય થઈ નથી.

આમ એમના જુના ચિહ્નો પણ એમની નિયત સારવારથી મટવા લાગ્યા. લગભગ છ મહિનાની સારવાર બાદ એમણે પોતાના પુત્રને ત્યાં લંડન જવાનું થયું એટલે એમની દવાઓ સાથે લઈ ગયા. ત્યાં રોજ સવાર સાંજ આ સફેદ ગોળીઓ ખાતાં જોઈ એમાં દીકરાએ પૂછ્યું  “તમે આ શેને માટે ખાધા કરો છો?” એમનો પુત્ર માતાની હૃદય અને સાંધાની બીમારીથી તદ્દન અજાણ હતો. આવી ગંભીર બીમારીમાં હોમેઓપથીની શું અસર થવાની છે? આ સારવાર કરવામાં કોઈ મોટું કોમ્પ્લીકેશન થઈ ન જાય એવી લાગણી સાથે એણે પહેલાં પોતાના ફેમીલી ડોક્ટર અને પછી સ્પેશિયાલિસ્ટનો સંપર્ક કર્યો.

બધાંના આશ્ચર્ય વચ્ચે તેમના હ્રદયના તમામ રીપોર્ટ નોર્મલ આવ્યાં. જુના રીપોર્ટની સરખામણીએ હાલ તેમનું હૃદય સંપૂર્ણ સામાન્ય કાર્ય કરતું થઈ ગયું હતું. તેથી તેમને કોઈ સારવાર ન આપતાં જે સારવાર ચેતા હોય તે ચાલુ રાખવા જણાવ્યું.

એક વર્ષની સારવાર બાદ હ્રદયની ફરિયાદની સાથે તેમના સાંધાના દુઃખાવાની અને અન્ય તકલીફો સામાન્ય થઈ ગઈ.

સ્વસ્થ મન હંમેશાં સ્વસ્થ તન પણ રાખે છે. વ્યક્તિની પ્રકૃતિ, વરસો અને જીવન પદ્ધતિ ઉપરાંત એમની લાગણીઓ અને આવેશનો પણ રોગની અવસ્થામાં ખૂબ મહત્વનો ભાગ ભજવે છે. આ બધી બાબતોને ધ્યાનમાં રાખીને હોમેઓપેથીથી સારવાર થાય છે.

The after dinner discussion was on, after a hectic work in the clinic. Few friends and lovely music… just as the conversation was at its peak the cell phone vibrated. “ I am sorry to bother you at this hour but the situation is such, I need to talk to you. Can I?” without waiting for the response the caller, a patient who had been benefited for some acute complaint, continued “my brother had fever for last three-four days. He was taking some treatment but as the fever did not responded he was hospitalized. The whole series of blood tests were carried out. Last report which has just come, the treating doctor says his kidneys have failed.  He is urgently required to be on dialysis. We, all the family members, are stunned… He is not even of forty years, very young and now has failed kidneys… we were discussing the different options and your name came, so I called you at this hour, what is your opinion? Can Homoeopathy be of any help?

It is always difficult to opine without examining the patient. After confirming two three particular points, I could judge that there was no life threating situation, we had some time.  I called the relatives to the clinic early morning with all the reports. The reports were bothersome. The patient had a crisis. The kidneys have malfunctioning and the Serum Creatinine was 4.4 mg/dl, and  Serum Ig A was 443 mg/dl. The sonographical examination was suggesting altered size of both the kidneys. The situation was precarious.  After explaining the prognosis, the patient was called in and examined.

 

There entered a medium built, dark complexioned weak and exhausted middle aged man. He narrated the history: “I had dark urination for last 10-12 days. Besides this I had no other complaints. Yes, I am a high BP patient and on treatment, and its ok, I cannot go for regular checkups, as I am too busy.”

On further probe he said: “ I had some running nose and cold complaints  20 or 25 days back. I took something and it went away. Then it recurred. But this is happening since my early childhood, especially if I take some cold food or drink. I do not have sound sleep, I feel  I am awake whole night. I am aware about every movement in the room and out of the house. My mind starts wandering the moment I hit my bed, especially about future.

He had increased thirst and excessive perspiration especially while eating. He narrated his nature as : “I need everything in order. If I ask for a paper in the office and I am not given it immediately, I lose my temper. I feel like throwing the file on the face of the person. At home too, when I enter I need everything in order, if the drawing room is in bad shape, I would start shouting. Everything should be at proper place, or I will get angry.

After considering all the aspects of the case the patient was given suitable homoeopathic medicine, with an advice to repeat the test after three days.

Patient entered with his relative and report on the fourth day.  The recovery was visible on the face and outlook of the patient. The creatinine level had reduced from 4.4 mg/dl to 2.7 mg/dl. The crisis was averted. He observed that on the very next day he developed nasal discharges. This was a very good sign, as this was suppressed with other medications, and not treated properly. Normally the patients and doctor are happy once the presenting or chief complaints are disappeared from the treatment.

Here I would like to mention about a myth regarding homoeopathy: in the beginning of the treatment the complaints increases and then it reduces.

As you can observe from the case, his creatinine did not increase but his coryza increased, confirming that his coryza was suppressed and not cured hence his untreated / maltreated symptoms increased and save the vital organ (in this case kidneys) and patient was restored to health.

He was asked to check the creatinine level after fifteen days. The report confirmed that the person was now normal.

This case demonstrates the efficacy of homoeopathic treatment in kind of acute crisis.

The advantage : the person not only recovered from his kidney complaints, but his nature changed for the better. Now he does not have anger bouts at trifles. Instead of being rude and angry, now he is jovial and cooperative family man, who could take things lightly. He started enjoying life…

Here I am presenting one more unique case of “A kind of Migraine with facial Neuralgia”.

The patient was aged 49 years, male, qualified civil engineer, doing the business of industrial construction. He was referred to me by one of the old patient, who had been benefited by marvels of homoeopathy.

The case history was like this:

He had on and off pain in the left eye. This lasted for few months. Later he used to experience intense pain in left eye which used to extend till left temporal region developing into severe headache, accompanied by profuse discharges from the eye. Later this pain used to extend and cover left side of the face making it difficult to chew and at times even talk, as motion of the lower jaw used to cause severe pain. These pains used to increase by noise, touch and even mild draft of air. He tried treatment from family physician, but in vain.

As his pains increased he was not able to attend to his business as usual. Some acquaintance suggested that he should consult a dentist. Following the advice he consulted one orthodontist. He opined that two of the left lower molars need to be removed in order to remove the pain effectively.  Obeying the expert opinion, his two molars were removed.  The pain still persisted, now more intense.

One of the relative, a doctor, at Mumbai, suggested that along with the pain killers he should be given steroids to have relief in pains. This was added and he used take up to 60 mg of steroids per day. While under the effect of strong pain killers along with steroids he experienced significant relief in his agony. After 3 months of duration he was advised to “tapper off” the steroids and to his disappointment, his pains reappeared.

One of the relative, another doctor, from Paris, opined that this could be “allergic” complaints and patient should discontinue the use of chocolate, milk and egg in any form. This advice for followed to the letter, no change experienced.

As in most of the cases happens, the patient was suggested to take homoeopathic treatment. He consulted one the practitioner. The treatment of three months from a homoeopath also did not help.

Someone suggested about Ayurvedic treatment, which too was tried, with the same result: No change or relief in pain.

By this stage, almost five years went by. The pain which started with mild intensity had become now worst, and in the process the patient had lost two of his molar, left the food like chocolate, milk and eggs and their products, and mainly lost the hope of ever becoming well again.

The case was referred to me by a patient (whose 22 year old son had suffered with headache for 4 years, in spite of all types of treatment, cured with homoeopathic treatment at this clinic), who had promised of cure at this clinic.

In the beginning of the case taking the patient made it very clear: “I do not have faith in homoeopathy, I have already tried it, it failed to even reduce my pains, by my wife’s friend has forced me to meet you. So I am here, I do not expect much from you. If only, you can reduce my pain to a bearable level, I would be more than happy.”

By now the intensity of the pain had become worst. He used to be abusive with the pains, at times anger leading to even rage. He had developed lots of anxiety about his business as it suffered due to his prolonged and repeated absences. His sleep was disturbed from noise and the hope of ever getting recovered weaning.

The treatment of the first week showed marked improvement. On the first follow up after a week brought him smiling. The hope of being relieved was also brought back, as he said, “Pardon me, for my remark. I now feel Homoeopathy will not only relieve but cure me from this agonizing pain.”

The treatment was continued for three months. After that he is a new person, with lots of enthusiasm about business and life.

The successful treatment has won one more ardent supporter in him, as now he is referring all sorts of difficult case, like cases of epilepsy, migraine, spine –disc lesion for treatment to Homoeopathy.

This was a difficult one to manage. One can observe from the history that the complaints started with much lesser intensity and at less important organ.

The increased ambition was ignored by the parents. The patient suffered from headache and later with vomiting. Later she developed “tension headache”. Later had vision loss of and was diagnosed with “Vascular Headache”.

Later on, she developed full blown psychic disease.

The young girl was treated successfully, with Homoeopathic treatment and was restored to health.

Such a wonderful strength of Homoeopathy…

This case demonstrates the advantage of homoeopathic system of medicines.

It is normally observed that in such severe case of anaemia the patient would be treated with blood transfusions. The blood transfusions would have taken care of acute anaemia. The cough would have needed separate medications.

The indicated remedy would cure the patient in a very gentle manner, speedily and permanently.
